Battle of the Board

Privacy policy

Last updated 25 October 2026. Covers the website, the web game and the iOS and Android apps.

Who we are

Battle of the Board is made by Mikko Ritala, Finland, who is responsible for your data. Contact: support@battleoftheboard.com.

The short version

No accounts, no ads, no tracking and no selling of data. Local games stay on your device. Only online games and feedback messages reach our server.

Games on your device

Player names, settings and saved games are stored on your device (browser storage or the app's storage). They are not sent to us. Voice calls use your device's own text-to-speech.

Online games

When you create or join a room, our server stores the room code, the display names you type, hero picks, the darts entered during the game and a secret token that lets your device rejoin. Idle rooms are deleted after 24 hours. The other player in the room can see your display name and your moves.

Feedback messages

If you send feedback through the form on this website, we receive the category, your message, the optional contact detail you add and the platform you used. It is stored as an issue in a private project on GitHub. To limit abuse, your IP address is turned into a one-way hash for a daily message limit; the address itself is not stored. A human check by Cloudflare (Turnstile) runs on the form. Please do not put sensitive information in a message.

Hosting

The website, game and servers run on Cloudflare, which processes technical request data such as your IP address and device details to deliver the service and protect it from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Analytics and purchases

There is no analytics in the game today. If we add privacy-friendly analytics, crash reporting or paid subscriptions, we will update this page first. Purchases, if added, are handled by Apple or Google, who tell us whether a subscription is active but not your payment details.

Why we use data and how long we keep it

To run online games and answer feedback (our legitimate interest in providing and improving the game). Online rooms are removed after 24 hours of inactivity. Feedback is kept as long as it is useful and can be deleted on request.

Children

The game is not aimed at young children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Your rights

Under the EU's data protection rules you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to its use. Email us and tell us which message or room is yours. You can also complain to the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuojavaltuutetun toimisto).

Changes

We will change this page when what we do changes, and update the date at the top.
